Shockwave Therapy for Plantar Fasciitis
What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy is used for number of treatments across different medical fields. Chiropodists use a hand-held probe to direct high energy sound waves into the affected area requiring treatment. The energy promotes tissue healing and regeneration, stimulating blood flow to the area, and providing with almost instant pain relief.
Is shockwave therapy painful for plantar fasciitis treatment?
The treatment is generally not painful, however some patients experience slight pressure or discomfort. Given that shockwave therapy only lasts for around five minutes a session, most patients are able to tolerate it quite easily. Please communicate any discomfort with the Chiropodist as they have the ability to reduce the intensity of the treatment. The intensity can be increased gradually over the sessions as you gain more tolerance.
